Victoria Hislop is a graduate of Oxford University and the multi-million copy bestselling author of nine novels, including The Island. Her books have been translated into forty languages and she was executive producer on the adaptations of The Island, Cartes Postales and One August Night for Greek television.
Victoria is an honorary Greek citizen and divides her time between England and Greece. She holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Sheffield, is on the British Committee for the Reunification of the Parthenon Marbles and was recently appointed Vice-President of the British School at Athens.
Since The Island was published Victoria has also been Ambassador for Lepra helping to raise awareness and funding for the treatment of leprosy patients worldwide.
