Diplomatic Advisor to the Leader of the Main Opposition/SYRIZA PA

EVANGELOS KALPADAKIS (b. 1979), is a career diplomat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic. He is the diplomatic advisor of the President of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance and Head of the Main Opposition (2019-ongoing and 2014-2015) and was the Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Prime Minister (2015-2019). He has served at the Embassy of Greece in Turkey (2011-2014), at the Permanent Delegation of Greece to the OSCE during the Greek Chairmanship (2008-2010), at the Turkey (2007-2008) and NATO (2010-2011) Directorates and at various other posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    The Global South is getting more and more vocal in its requests for a fairer and bigger role in world affairs. This may be seen as a challenge to the Global North and to the international liberal order. Can the G7 build new bridges rather than new walls? How to safeguard the international economy and avoid further trade wars and protectionism? Which further steps should the G7 take to promote sustainable development in low- and middle-income countries? Which room for North-South cooperation on green transition and adaptation to climate change?
