Kostas Skandalidis has dedicated his life to public service. Having held multiple high offices in government, he made significant contributions to Greece's development. He served as Minister of Rural Development and Food from 2010 to 2012, focusing on modernizing agricultural practices and enhancing food security, navigating structural reforms in coordination with Greece's modernization efforts under the EU. Skandalidis also served as Minister of the Interior from 1994 to 1995, implementing reforms to improve governance and administrative efficiency. Earlier, as Minister of the Aegean from 1993 to 1994, he prioritized managing maritime affairs and promoting coastal development in the Dodecanese. Throughout his political career, he held pivotal roles within the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK), including serving as Deputy Secretary of the Youth, Member of the Executive Bureau, and Secretary of the Movement, alongside his notable presidential candidacy in 2007. Skandalidis served as an elected Member of Parliament from 1989 to 2023, representing both the Dodecanese and the First (A) Region of Athens, taking significant legislative initiatives across the years. As an author, he has contributed significantly to political discourse with works such as "Aegean Proposal for Life" (1991), "State of Man" (1997), "Through Greece" (2003), "Governing Left" (2008), "The Greeks - Notebooks of Patriotic Studies" (2012), and "PASOK Meta" (2023). Kostas Skandalidis was born in Kos in 1953, graduated from the School of Electrical Engineers at the National Technical University of Athens. He is married, with a son.
