Major General (Ret.) Danny Yatom

Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Danny Yatom was born in Israel and served in the IDF for 33 years.

His major roles in IDF were:

1. Combat operator and commander in the most prestigious commando unit (Sayeret Matkal).

2. Commander of an operational armored division.

3. Head of the IDF Research and Development Unit.

4. Head of the IDF planning division.

5. Commanding General of the Central Territorial Command.

6. Military Secretary to the Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Yitzhak Rabin.

 

Maj. Gen. Yatom participated in the six days war as a commando team leader, in the Yom-Kippur War as a deputy commander of a tank battalion, in the first war in Lebanon as a Chief of Staff of a corps, and in numerous operations against terror. During his military service General Yatom was decorated for bravery.

 

After his retirement Maj. Gen. Yatom served as the Director of the "Mossad" (Israeli Secret Intelligence Service), then as Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Ehud Barak.

 

Maj. Gen. Yatom participated in all the rounds of negotiation with Syria, Jordan, and the Palestinians between the years 1993-2001.

 

Maj. Gen. Yatom was elected to the 16th and 17th Knesset's on behalf of the Israeli Labor party. In 2008, he decided to retire from the Israeli political life after 5.5 years.

 

His book, “THE LABYRINT OF POWER”, was published in 2016.

 

Maj. Gen. Yatom holds a degree in mathematics, physics and computer science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Master degree in History of the Middle East from Tel-Aviv University.

 

Maj. Gen. Yatom serves today as Chairman of Dantov Global Consulting Group Ltd.

 

Maj. Gen. Yatom is married to Tova and they have five sons.
