Spyridon Doukakis

Spyridon (Spyros) Doukakis is the Chair of the Governing Board of the Hellenic Institute of Educational Policy (IEP) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics at Ionian University. He has previously, worked as a special advisor for teacher professional development, academic department head, and educator at the American College of Greece. He has taught in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Hellenic Open University (HOU), the University of Thessaly, the University of the Aegean, the former Technological Institute of Athens, ASPAITE, and the Hellenic Police Academy.
Spyros Doukakis has actively participated in numerous research, European, and development projects at various institutions, including HOU, the National Technical University of Athens, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). His research has been published in international journals and conferences.
He has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship and has received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Harvard Club of Boston. He has also been recognized by the Ministry of Education and by the NKUA for his contributions to Education and Learning.
Spyros Doukakis completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Patras and the University of Amsterdam (with a scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation). He also holds three postgraduate diplomas: a) in computer communications and networks from Leeds Beckett, b) in basic and applied cognitive science from NKUA, and c) in education from HOU. He obtained his Ph.D. in education, specializing in digital technologies, from the University of the Aegean and conducted his postdoctoral research at Ionian University, focusing on educational neuroscience with an emphasis on computer programming.
He is a member of the Greek Computer Society, the GeoGebra Institute, and the Hellenic Mathematical Society.
