Yannis Psycharis is a Professor of Regional Economics at Panteion University in Athens and Director of the Regional Development Institute, President of the Greek section of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA). Since January 2024 took over Vice-President of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA). He is President of the Greek section of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA), and Vice-President of the Scientific Board of Local Government Institute of the Association of Local Government in Greece (KEDE). He is an advisor to Ministries of Interior and National Economy and Finance, and scientific advisor to the Association of Local Government in Greece (KEDE). He was senior research fellow at the London School of Economics, former Director of the Greek National School of Public Administration and Local Government, and Vice President of the Consignment Deposit and Loans Fund. He has been an expert for the Council of Europe and the OECD, and member in international experts’ committees. Member of research team of the OECD Country Report on «Regional Development in Greece post 2020». Council of Europe expert on public administration and local government. His research interests include regional inequalities, European integration, cohesion policy, and public administration. He has written many articles in refereed international scientific journals, member of the Scientific Committee in many international conferences, and has participated in a large number of international scientific conferences. He has served as keynote speaker in many International Conferences in Lyon France, Hamamet Tynisia, Warsow Poland. He is the Team leader and partner in European research projects EU HORIZON, Urban Innovative Actions (UIA), ERASMUS+, ESPON and INTERREG.
