Panos T. Xenokostas is a visionary entrepreneur, engineer, and investor in the industries of Shipbuilding, Maritime, ICT, Aviation, Defense & Security and Energy. He has expertise in high-risk investments in new technologies and early stages companies, crisis management and restructuring in challenging and complex environments. He is also expert in innovative investment platforms.
He is the Founder and Head of ONEX Technology Group based in New York. Onex Technologies’ Investment Board consists of top executives from world-leading Investment Firms handing billions of assets.
Panos T. Xenokostas has the overall Management of the organization’s global activities and investments through the Group companies, such as ONEX TECHNOLOGIES SYSTEMS AND BUSINESS SOLUTIONS S.A., ONEX NEORION SHIPYARDS S.A., ONEX ELEFSIS SHIPYARDS S.A. and many other companies. His vision is to create a global brand recognized for being second to none in ship repairing, shipbuilding and energy transition integrated solutions, by developing the leading shipyard-port technology and logistics hub based in East Med, Middle East, Asia and North America. For this reason, in 2004, Panos T. Xenokostas found ONEX, a dynamic, rapidly growing group of companies involved in shipbuilding, ship repairing, and technology business solutions.
Numbering 3,000+ employees, the group has invested over €140 million in Greece over the last four years and is currently implementing a €500+ million investment in the country. With completed projects worth of €2 billion in its track record, ONEX has grown 400% since 2018, demonstrating a total of €300+ million in assets and a path to reach 1+ Billion by the end of 2026. ONEX Elefsis Shipyards has been the very first company in Greece and Europe that has been financed from US Development Finance Corporation (“DFC”) and the very first shipyard globally (Debt facility of $125 million in Phase one).
In 2023, on his initiative, the Hellenic Shipyards Association (HSAS) was established. Its founding members are 24 of the largest companies, unions and associations in the shipbuilding industry (multi-billion companies with tens of thousands employees). The HSAS aspires to become a strong institutional body, which will act as a catalyst for developments in the future of the Shipbuilding Industry and as a platform for the interconnection of Shipping with the rest of the country's productive bodies. Panos T. Xenokostas was elected as the President of the BoD of the Union.
He graduated the Hellenic Air Force Academy-Engineers Department as Aeronautical Engineer in 1996 and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University Institute Kurt Bösch in Switzerland.
During his military career as an Air Force Officer from 1996 to 2004, he was positioned in key managing posts and received specialty trainings in fields of Aviation-Aerospace R&D, aircraft accidents investigation, aircraft maintenance/support, aviation security & quality assurance, while he participated in NATO exercises as a technical staff Chief. He was also elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Aerospace Engineers Society (ESMA), from 2010 until 2012. He is retired, holding the rank of Captain.
Panos T. Xenokostas has been awarded internationally for his business achievements, environmental contribution through investments and innovation activities in business and science. In 2014 and 2015, he was awarded as one of the 10 best European Entrepreneurs by the European Business Awards institution, while in 2014 he received the “Innovation and Creative Entrepreneurship” Award by the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen. He is an Honorary Μember of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aw well. He has also been awarded by Lockheed Martin for his contribution during their long-lasting strategic partnership with the Hellenic Air Force.
He has a long and fruitful tradition of philanthropic activities, with multi-million local community supporting programs in the last 5 years, in addition to financially supporting local sports clubs.
Panos T. Xenokostas was born in 1974. He is married and a father of four children.
