Ζacharenia (Zenia) Saridaki - Zoras, MD, PhD, is the president of the board of directors of the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (HeSMO) (2nd run 2023-2025), where she is being elected since 2013, currently running her 7th term. She is a Medical Oncologist, Director at the A’ Oncology Department of the Metropolitan Hospital in Athens, and the Scientific Director of the Oncology Department «Asklepios DIAGNOSIS» in Heraklion Crete. She also works as a Medical Oncologist at the Private Clinic “Asklepieion Crete” in Heraklion Crete. She is one of the founders of the scientific group “Women 4 Oncology – Hellas”. She obtained her Medical Degree and her PhD from the Medical School of the University of Crete, and she received her Medical Oncology Specialty Certification in 2007. She has worked as an academic visitor at Oxford University, in the Medical Oncology Unit of the Churchill and John Radcliffe Hospitals and in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology in the Radcliffe Infirmary and as a full time postdoctoral scientific researcher in the Center for Human Genetics O&N1 in the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, and in the Department of Digestive Oncology, University Hospital Gasthuisberg, Leuven, Belgium. She is an author and co-author in 54 articles in peer-reviewed journals and in 3 scientific medical books. She has been an invited speaker in more than 200 and an invited chair in more than 100 national and international congresses and has been the organizer and co-organizer (as a member of the Organizing and/or Scientific Committee) in more than 60 national and international congresses. She served as the Deputy Managing Editor of the official scientific journal of HeSMO, Forum of Clinical Oncology (FCO), from 2014 until the end of 2017. She is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) (since 2008) and member of ASCO’s Central and Eastern European Regional Council (representing Greece). She is also an active member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) (since 2010), and member of ESMO’s National Societies Committee (representing Greece).
