George Mathios became the managing director (CEO) and vice president of ESA’s board of directors in mid-2019. He has wide experience of company management, having served as CEO of DIGEA SA and board member of the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP). He has also worked as a high-level executive for HSBC Bank Plc, the Coca-Cola Company, Multichoice Hellas, and Procter and Gamble. He holds a PhD from Athens University of Economics and Business and an MBA from Manchester Business School. He is also a mechanical engineer, holding and MSc from the University of Manchester and an MSc from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in marine engineering and shipping.
