Ilias G. Bissias is an Attorney at law, Editor in Chief of the award-winning Greek Shipping Magazine Naftika Chronika (published since 1931) and Executive Director of the educational platform Isalos.net. In the past he has worked for the European Commission (1999-2002) and was a legal correspondent for Greece in the areas of air transport law and policy. Dr. Bissias holds a Bachelor and Master's Degree in Law from the University of London (LSE) and a PhD in Maritime Policy from the University of the Aegean. Since 2014 he is a teaching fellow in Maritime Policy and Stategy at the Postgraduate Programs of the Alba Graduate Business School and is currently an adjunct lecturer in Maritime Studies at the University of the Aegean. His research interests include International Shipping Policy, Maritime Education, EU Transport Law and Policy, Strategic Management in the Maritime Industry, Contemporary Maritime History and Corporate Communications. He has written numerous academic articles and participated in various research projects on these areas, both in Greece and abroad. In 2021, Dr Bissias was unanimously awarded by the City Council of Oinousses the title of Honorary Citizen of the historic maritime island.
