Liana Kanelli was born in Athens. She is a member of the Greek Parliament, KKE, (Communist Party of Greece Athens district), continuously elected since 2000 up to date. She is a Pierce American College of Greece graduate, lawyer (NKUA graduate, member of the Athens Bar Association) and a prominent journalist, with a long career on radio, newspapers, magazines and television as a reporter, newscaster, anchorwoman and publisher (NEMECIS magazine). Multifaceted personality, painter, song composer, and writer, published two books of poems (“Reflections”, “Liturgy of the Oaths”) and the photo-book on Rwanda massacre (“Rwanda, the Flow of the Underworld”). Speaks four languages and she has been many times awarded for her antiracist, antiwar and feminist action. Liana Kanelli is also a member of the Parliamentarian Assembly of the Council of Europe for 24 years. Her testimony as a witness on the Milosevic trial, International Court of Justice, The Hague 2004, was recently published as a book under the tittle “Antigone in The Hague”
