Robert Gauci, born 1972, is the CEO of Ethniki Insurance Company since January 2023.
He is an experienced multi-cultural executive with a consolidated background in business
development, operations transformation and general management for insurance and retail
finance activities. Before joining Ethniki Insurance, he has held long-standing leadership
positions in multinational insurance organizations.
During the period 2020 - 2021, Robert Gauci was President of Uniqa Insurance Group for
Czech Republic & Slovakia. Before that, between 2013 -2020, he held high management
roles in AXA group, including those of CEO of AXA in Czech Republic & Slovakia and Chief
Operating Officer of AXA in Italy, where he led the transformation of the companies and
their further development.
At the beginning of his career, he started working for AIG-Alico where he held multiple
positions, including the role of Regional Director for its Group Management Division in
Western Europe, the role of CEO of Alico in Italy and, following its acquisition by MetLife, he
served as CEO of MetLife Italy.
Robert Gauci is fluent in Greek, French, Italian and English, has studied Business
Administration at Université de Versailles - St Quentin and holds a master’s degree (MSc) in
Banking and Finance from Université Paris X- Nanterre.
