Michael Arghyrou is the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Hellenic Republic. With this capacity, he represents Greece at the Economic and Financial Committee (EFC), the Eurogroup Working Group (EWG) and the Board of Directors of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM). He is one of the five members of the Steering Committee which designed and oversees the implementation of the Greek National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0. He is also a full member of the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB). Since July 2019 he is a Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus. Previously, he was a Lecturer, Assistant and Associate Professor of Economics at Cardiff University (2005-2019) and a Lecturer in Economics at Brunel University (1998-2005).
