Stamatis Fradelos is Vice President in ABS’ Regulatory Affairs Department. The ABS’ Regulatory Affairs Department is responsible for the ABS interface with IMO, Flag Administrations and IACS, facilitating the application of regulations and maintaining ABS and clients’ awareness on regulatory issues being progressed and developed internationally. Stamatis is also member of IACS Board of Directors, the IACS Council and the IACS Sub-Committee on Quality Policy participating in IACS governance and strategic decisions.
Stamatis has worked as a marine field Surveyor for five years at the Hellenic Register of Shipping, spent six years at Lloyd’s Register as a plan approval engineer, two years at Det Norske Veritas as business development manager and regional bulk carriers segment director and more than eight years at ABS in different roles as principal engineer at environmental performance team, manager at advisory services and director at business development. He was also representing ABS on the IACS Environmental Panel and representing IACS in IMO correspondence and working groups.
Stamatis has a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, a M.Sc. in Marine Technology and Science and a M.Sc. in Engineering - Economic Systems. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and a Chartered Engineer of the UK Engineering Council.
