Costis Psaltis is Eurobank’s Chief Transformation Officer, responsible for organising and overseeing the bank’s strategic change programme towards its vision to be a pioneer in creating prosperity for customers, employees, shareholders and society.
He started his career in 1992 as a management consultant in London and spent the next 15 years advising major corporations and new ventures across Europe on business strategy, organisational design, operational effectiveness and value-based management. During this time, he co-founded and led two consulting practices in the UK, before joining Monitor as Group Leader of the European Financial Services Practice and Head of the Greek Practice in 2001. From 2007 to 2013, he served as Head of Integration Office at National Bank of Greece, leading strategic transactions, post-merger integrations and transformation initiatives in Southeast Europe, and coordinating the bank’s participation in the first asset quality review by international institutions in Greece. From 2013 to 2020 he served as Head of Strategic Projects at Piraeus Bank Group, leading strategic divestment, cost optimisation and performance management initiatives as part of the bank’s turnaround.
He has led the editorial team of the book “The Banking Revolution: Salvation or Slaughter?” on the challenges and opportunities presented by technology in financial services, while his empirical research on the trends and factors for success in European bank mergers has been published in the Financial Times and The Banker. He has been interviewed on BBC and Sky News and has presented his work at several industry conferences.
Mr Psaltis holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from the Athens University of Economics and Business, where he graduated first in his class, and an MBA with Distinction from the London Business School.
