Nefeli Stournara completed her BA in Contemporary History and Sociology at the University of Sussex. She completed her MA in Migration and Diaspora Studies department of Anthropology at SOAS University London. In 2021 she defended her PhD Thesis in Sociology, Middlesex University London with the title ‘Paradigmatic workers’: sociologies of gender, class and ethnicity in the labour experiences of Albanian and ethnic Greek Albanian women cleaners at two Greek public hospitals. She worked at the General Secretary of Reception of Asylum Seekers, Ministry of Migration and Asylum as the focal point of the ministry regarding Age Assessment. She was also responsible for the project of Vaccination against COVID-19. She is a research Analyst in Mindview, operating projects concerning issues of Public Health: Obesity, Diabetes, Smoking Cessation. In 2024 she began a series of events that have an intersectional approach centering migration, starting on the 29th of March with Migration and Public Health: An intersectional Approach from Reception to Integration. She also participates in two research projects: 1) ITHACA (A horizon project that NKUA participates) that aims at creating an Archive with the histories and personal narratives of migrants from the mediterranean region, 2) MARNIE funded by ELIDEK that aims to collect migrants’ narratives regarding their experiences with public services, and co-create with the migrant population through research participatory action an application that is addressed to be used by migrant population. Nefeli Stournara is planning to start her Post-Doc Research in the coming months, under the supervision of Dimitris Parsanoglou assistant Professor of Sociology in the NKUA. Her post-Doc will center on gender, migration, working experiences, deskilling, reskilling and social capital.
