Dr. Elizabeth H. Prodromou is Professor of International Studies at Boston College and Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center in Washington, DC.
She served as diplomat on the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (2004-2012) and was a member of the U.S. Secretary of State’s Religion & Foreign Policy Working Group (2011-2015). She advises international organizations on geopolitics, religion, and human rights. An internationally recognized expert on religious diplomacy and global Orthodox Christianity, some of her recent publications include “Diplomacy, Geopolitics, and Orthodox Christianity in the Twenty-First Century,” “Influence Operations in Greece’s Religious Ecosystem,” in Kremlin Playbook 3, and “Turkey’s Cultural Heritage Cudgel.”
She is widely published in academic and policy journals and has diverse policy and
practitioner work including appointments to the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center (Non-Resident Senior Fellow), Religions for Peace (Co-President), the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Task Force on Modern Slavery, and the Board of the Religious Liberty Initiative of University of Notre Dame’s Law School.
She holds a Ph.D. and S.M. in political science from MIT, an M.A.L.D fromThe Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and a B.A. in International Relations and History from Tufts University, where she was awarded a Distinguished Service Award from the Tufts Alumni
Association.
