Spokesperson

Nea Demokratia, Greece

Nikos Romanos was born in Athens in 1981. He graduated from Essex University, Department of Psychology and holds an MBA degree from Cardiff Business School. His first professional steps began in crucial marketing positions centered around global sports events, such as the 2004 Olympic Games of Athens and the 2006 Asian Games of Doha.
Upon returning to Greece, he became active in the food and beverages service, co-founding a business that has now developed into a chain of production and wholesale of ice cream, with a central workshop and two retail stores. Meanwhile, he also co-founded the first frozen yoghurt chain, that created a trend around this particular product.
In 2014, in parallel with his other activities, he specialized in cognitive psychology and collaborated with a center for rational emotional cognitive behavioural therapy as a psychologist.
In 2016, he became highly active on social media, registering an intense political fingerprint in his public speaking, and consequently started writing articles on a regular basis on a variety of press, both print newspapers and online sites (Liberal, Protothema, Protagon, Eleftheros Typos etc.). At the same time, he was appointed as Deputy Head of Strategic Planning of Nea Demokratia by Kyriakos Mitsotakis and since 2017 he has been at the forefront of the ruling party’s communication, initially as Deputy Spokesperson for Nea Demokratia (2017-2019) and, following that, as Press Office Director (2019-2023). In October 2023, he was appointed as Nea Demokratia Spokesperson by the Prime Minister of Greece and President of the party Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Furthermore, his role has been central with regards to the party’s digital communication, as well as the effort to combat fake news by founding -during his tenure- the Fake News Observatory by the Press Office of Nea Demokratia, having worked at the same time for an extended period in the party President’s digital communication.
