Youth Delegate of Cyprus to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities

Liana Liu Ioannides is a peace activist and peacebuilder from Cyprus. She is campaigning for effective inclusion and participation of youth at the highest levels of decision-making, particularly of the Cyprus settlement and peace process. Her activism includes role as co-chair of the Alumni Association of Creating Friendships for Peace (CFP), which brings together thousands of Greek-Cypriot, Turkish-Cypriot, Northern Irish, Israeli and Palestinian youth through conflict-resolution, peacebuilding and leadership programs.
As the Youth Delegate of Cyprus to the Council of Europe, she is voicing her generation's perspectives and aspirations at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, which is responsible for strengthening local and regional democracy in the 46 member states of the Council of Europe. She is also currently acting as the Alumni Ambassador of the EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC, promoting the program and its values in schools and learning communities across both sides of the divide in Cyprus.
