Greece

My name is Miltiadis Charenis, born on August 6th, 1972, in Nea Gonia of Halkidiki, where I have rooted myself for life. Formerly serving as the village president for 17 years, I now hold the position of municipal councilor in the municipality of New Propontida. Hailing from a lineage deeply embedded in farming, I carry forward the legacy of my father's agricultural pursuits, which have been the cornerstone of my own career.
Farming has been my primary occupation since childhood, instilled in me as a way of life. Educated at the Greek-French school "Kalamari" for my primary and secondary schooling, I furthered my studies at the American Agricultural College. Managing approximately 4,000 acres of land, my focus primarily lies in cultivating cereals, with additional ventures into anise and sesame on smaller plots.
Engagement in various research initiatives with institutions like "Elgo Dimitra," the Ministry, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and corporate entities such as "Bayer" underscores my commitment to innovation and advancement in agriculture. Over recent years, I've embraced regenerative agriculture, employing state-of-the-art equipment for precision farming practices.
My operation stands as a testament to autonomy and innovation, from cultivation through to product storage. Leveraging cutting-edge machinery, my approach ensures efficiency in production, precise application of treatments, and streamlined processes from start to finish. This dedication to innovation and precision earned me the distinction of being named the best farmer of 2023 by the esteemed publication "Agrenda."
