Dimitrios Sevastakis

Dimitrios A. Sevastakis was born in Samos, Greece. He is a Professor at the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) since 2000, and he is also a painter, graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts. As a professor he teaches various courses both at the pre-graduate and postgraduate level and has considerable participations in scientific conferences and projects. As a painter he has been artistically active since the 1980s with numerous exhibitions in Greece and abroad, in institutions, galleries and museums, while many of his works are part of public and private collections internationally.
From 2015 to 2019, he was twice elected member of the Greek Parliament. He has served as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Cultural and Educational Affairs and Chairman of the Israel-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Committee, as well as he participated as a member of the USA-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Committee. Furthermore he has served as an active member of inter-parliamentary and transnational committees for international cooperation, with an emphasis on the collaboration of South-Eastern Mediterranean countries, in the fields of culture, education, research and innovation.
He is currently a member of the Strategic Council of DIKTIO – Network for the Reforms in Greece and Europe, a leading independent, non-partisan and non-profit think tank that aims to undertake cutting-edge policy research and practical policy advice.
As a columnist and writer, he writes articles in the daily and periodical press, as well as he publishes studies and essays in special, scientific publications. He participates as an expert commentator in informative television shows, on the topics of politics, education, culture and research.
