Stefanos Chandakas was born in Athens in 1972 and is an obstetrician-gynecologist, endoscopic reproductive surgeon.
He is the chairman of the Board of Directors of Mitera Hospital, Hellenic Healthcare Group, and was recently appointed as an Associate Professor at the School of Medicine of the University of Nicosia, to offer his experience in Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Gynecological Surgery.
Graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens. He holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Imperial College London, with major distinctions in Entrepreneurship (European Business Entrepreneurship Award 2003) and a PhD from the University of Athens Medical School. He was trained in UK and the United States in obstetrics, gynecology and laparoendoscopic / robotic surgery, and was one of the youngest gynecology curators for the UK National Health System (NHS).
He has significant administrative experience, having served in important positions in private sector hospitals for the last 18 years, while he has successfully established gynecological centers and IVF units in Greece and abroad. At the same time, he participates in the scientific board of the 3D medical education software development company ORAMAVR, based in California.
He was a member of the National Sailing Team for 11 years and participated in the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, while today he is the Vice-President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee.
For the past 20 years he has been engaged in various philanthropic activities, initially with his participation in the Aegean Group for the provision of medical and supportive assistance to the remote islands of the Aegean Sea. In 2015, he founded HOPEgenesis NPO, tackling with the demographic deadlock and the socioeconomic aspects of it, which was awarded as the best NGO for 2018 in Greece by the European Union.
