Elli Tsiforou

GAIA EPICHEIREIN, Greece
Elli was born in Athens, Greece.
She has studied Communication & Media in Greece (BSc) and in France (MSc) and has worked for more than 10 years as policy advisor on agriculture and rural development at the European and the Hellenic Parliament. She was also Chief of Staff to the cabinet of the Minister of Culture and Tourism during the Hellenic Caretaker Government in 2012.
Between 2015-2020 she was Head of GAIA EPICHEIREIN’s Brussels Office and the appointed Permanent Representative of the Greek delegation in the EU farmer and agri-cooperative organizations COPA (Committee of Professional Agricultural Organisations) & COGECA (General Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives).
For the 2-year period between 2020-2022 she held the position of Director General at GAIA EPICHEIREIN.
Since September 2022, she is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at GAIA EPICHEIREIN. She is also serving her second mandate as elected Chairwoman of the COGECA Cooperative Coordination Committee (CCC) that she has been leading since January 2020.
Elli has participated in numerous events at national and EU level in defense of EU agriculture and agri-cooperatives and is actively engaged in the public debate on agricultural policy.
She has published an important number of studies, reports, opinion pieces and translations mainly in the fields agricultural policy, political communication and media theory.
She speaks fluently French, English and Italian.
