Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Professor of Obstetrics – Gynecology and Infertility, Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens (1989). She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Hospital of Ioannina (1996). Her postdoctoral training took place at the Section on Women’s Health, Developmental Endocrinology Branch, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA (Visiting Fellow, Fogarty International Visiting Fellowship Award, 1996-1999). She has received scholarships from the Alexander Onassis Public Benefit Foundation (for postdoctoral research in reproductive endocrinology), and the Hellenic College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (D.B Kaskarelis Award). She is the recipient of ten honors and awards from the American Endocrine Society, the International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology, the Hellenic College of Endocrinology and the Hellenic Heart Society. Her research interests include premature menopause/ primary ovarian insufficiency, folliculogenesis, menopause, polycystic ovary syndrome, repeated pregnancy loss, assisted reproduction and embryo implantation. She has 130 publications in peer reviewed Journals and books, such as Nature Immunology, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Trends in Endocrinology and Metabolism, Human Reproduction, Fertility and Sterility, Obstetrics and Gynecology etc. She is President of the Hellenic Society of Family Planning, Contraception and Reproductive Health and Vice-president of the Hellenic Society of Menopause.
