Vasiliki Georgiadou is Professor of Political Science at the Department of Political Science and History of Panteion University. Since February 2023 she is the Director and President of the Board of Directors of the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE). She studied political science in Athens and Germany and holds a PhD from the Westphälische Wilhelms-Universät Münster. She is the PI of the Panteion University research group in the Horizon_2020 research project "EnTrust. Enlightened Trust: An examination of trust and distrust in governance" (https://entrust-project.eu/). She is also the coordinator of the research project "DeMoLiSH _ Detecting, Monitoring and Linking online Hate Speech and offline Hate Crime" (ELIDEK, Greece 2. 0, https://www.demolish.gr/ ), which studies hate speech in social media and forms of violent behaviour in everyday life, looking for linkages between online and offline violence.
She is the author of the books The Far Right and the Consequences of Consensus (Kastaniotis 2008) and The Far Right in Greece (1965-2018) (Kastaniotis 2019). Her recent contributions include the chapter “The Far Right” published in the Handbook of Modern Greek Politics (edited by K. Featherstone & D. A. Sotiropoulos, Oxford University Press 2020), the article "Far Right domino: Towards an integrated theory of political contagion" (Electoral Studies, vol. 76/2021 co-authored with C. Roumanias & L. Rori), and the chapter "Far Left violence in Greece. The second generation" published in the Routledge Handbook of Left-wing Extremism (Routledge 2023, co-authored with L. Rori). She co-edited the special issue on political violence in Greece in the Journal of Modern Greek Studies (vol. 40/1, 2022).
She is on the editorial boards of Science and Society [Epistemi and Koinonia], Journal of Modern Greek Studies, and European Political Studies. Her research interests focus on the Far Right in Greece and Europe, radicalism, extremism, political violence.
