Stavros, born in Athens in 1961, is holding a BA from University of Athens (Greece) - Law School - School of Economics, and a MA in Labour Economics from University of Kent (UK). He is also a Certificant of the Institute of Risk Management (UK).
Returning from the UK he lectured for 8 years on Public Finance at the University of Piraeus. He has also lectured for 17 years at the Hellenic Institute of Insurance Studies. Contributor to several international journals on Industrial Relations, Minimum Wages and Unemployment.
Also regularly published in the Greek financial press with articles relating to best practices in risk management, strategic risks, professional services, and loss prevention. An active public speaker, he addresses conferences and seminars on risk management, supply chain risks and the management of professional services firms.
In 1986 he co-founded Hellenic Bain Clarkson SA, then Aon Hellas SA, and served as Chairman and CEO for some 23 years. Founding partner of Aon in Cyprus where he held the position of Chairman. In 2009, he co-founded EXL Consulting SA (www.exl.gr)
a management owned, risk management, insurance consulting and broking firm operating out of Athens, focusing on large corporate accounts, family offices and the public sector. Also founder of EXL (Cyprus) Limited, a company active in international risk management and insurance broking.
Served as Secretary General (1998-2000) and Vice-Chairman (2004-2006), at the Hellenic Insurance Brokers Association. Initially a Board Member and currently Vice Chairman at the Greek Nigerian Chamber of Commerce & Trading, since 2020.
Stavros’s international scope and extensive experience in the design, placement and servicing of risk management and insurance programs for large organizations, have been proven instrumental in numerous risk management projects for both global and local conglomerates.
Member of the Yacht Club of Greece (YCG) and of the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) in the UK. An ex-athlete but still an active sportsman. Owner and skipper of one of the most successful sailing racing syndicates in Greece TEAM EXLence.
