Theodoros Tsakiris

Dr. Theodoros Tsakiris is a Professor of Geopolitics & Energy Policy at the School of Business of the University of Nicosia where he also teaches at its School of Law. Between 2016 and 2019, Dr. Tsakiris served as an energy policy advisor to ND Vice President Kostis Hatzidakis and was the head of the ND Program Secretariat Team that introduced the party's government program for Energy in the 2019 and the 2023 elections. From 2019 to the present day, he serves as Special Advisor & Coordinator of International Energy Policy & Energy Security at the Office of the Minister of Environment & Energy of the Hellenic Republic. Since October 2019, he also serves as a member of the Board of Directors. of DESFA SA.
During 2014-2015 he was a Partner of the Southern Europe Program of LSE Ideas at the London School of Economics, while in the period 2016-2019 he was a Researcher of ELIAMEP through the European program HORIZON 2020 studying the Future of Euro-Turkish Relations. In the period 2008-2010 he was a special associate of the Ministers of Energy of Greece Christos Folias and Kostis Hatzidakis in his capacity as the head of Political Planning of the Special Secretariat for International Energy Policy of the then Ministry of Development, while until June 2010 he collaborated pro bono on the same subject with then Deputy Minister of Energy Professor Ioannis Maniatis. Mr. Tsakiris holds a PhD in Strategic Studies from Panteion University (2008), where he studied with an EU scholarship. He also holds the title (Summa Cum Laude) M.A. in International Security Studies from Georgetown University (2002), where he studied as a postgraduate scholar of the Fulbright and Voudouri foundations. He has taught at National Defense Staff College, the School of National Security and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while between 2018-2021 he taught the subject of Geopolitics of Energy in the energy postgraduate study program of ESCP Europe in Paris. He is a graduate (1995) of the Leontiοs Lyceum of Nea Smyrna.
