Ioannis Theotokas is Professor of Shipping Management, Chair of the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus and director of the MSc in Marine Science and Technology Management Program. He has a background in economics having received his PhD from the University of Piraeus. His research interests lie in the areas of Shipping Management, Human Resource Management, and Strategic Management. He is the author and co-author of more than 100 research works and seven books among them being the Management of Shipping Companies (Routledge) and the Leadership in World Shipping (Palgrave, co-authored with Gelina Harlaftis). He has acted as coordinator or principal investigator in many research projects and consultancy studies related to employment, entrepreneurship, strategy, training, and competitiveness issues in shipping. Between 2015 and 2017 he served as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy.
