George is the founder and CEO of George Capital Finance Solutions (George CFS). Comprising a powerhouse team of Australia’s best finance experts. George CFS delivers customised finance solutions for family businesses and individuals. 

Previously, George was Managing Director and CEO, Bank of Queensland (September 2019 to December 2022; top 100 company on the Australian Securities Exchange). In this role, he grew and transformed the BOQ Group and successfully acquired ME Bank in February 2021 through a $1.35 billion equity raising - the largest acquisition in Australian banking since 2008. George grew both retail and business banking, delivered digital and IT transformation and developed a cloud-based banking platform. George grew the lending book from $50b to $80b. George uplifted customer advocacy and importantly, drove enterprise cultural transformation - significantly lifting engagement, culture and risk culture scores over the 3 years. George presented his last set of results to the market on October 11th, 2022, resulting in a 13% BOQ share price increase that week, adding $580 million in market capitalisation. 

Prior to this appointment, George was Chief Executive of Westpac Group’s Consumer Bank (June 2015 to June 2019), one of the largest retail banks in Australia operating under the brands Westpac, St.George, BankSA, Bank of Melbourne and RAMS. In this role, he managed a lending book of $550b, with staff of over 10,000 across Australia. Prior to this appointment, George was CEO, St.George Banking Group, a full service bank with a lending book of $190b. He joined the Westpac Group in March 2009 as Chief Executive, Westpac New Zealand Limited. 

Formerly, George was Group Executive General Manager at National Australia Bank, managing Australia’s largest business bank. Prior to that, Chief Financial Officer of Commonwealth Bank of Australia's Institutional Banking Division, responsibilities included the Institutional Bank’s international operations in Asia, Europe and USA. 

George has also been a partner with the Boston Consulting Group based in various locations including Sydney, London and South Korea. 

George started his career as an Electronics Engineering Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, where he was responsible for the F/A-18 Hornet fighter aircraft.
