Aziz Amin is a seasoned professional with a broad and hands-on background in policy analysis, conflict resolution, security, peace-building, research and development, strategic policy and planning, media, strategic communication, governance, political affairs, and socio-political engagement in conflict and post-conflict contexts in Afghanistan and the South and Central Asian region.
 
He earned his Master’s degree in Conflict, Development, and Security from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom as a Chevening Scholar, alongside a first-class B.S. in Politics and international Relations.
 
Amin’s professional journey includes collaborations with regional governments, heads of states, and thought leaders. He has served as a special assistant to a former Afghan President and held positions such as Deputy Chief Electoral Officer and senior operations and policy advisor for Afghanistan’s Independent Election Commission. Additionally, he has held roles like director-general of public communication, partnership, and external affairs at the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, and director of policy research analysis and development for pivotal governmental entities, including the Administrative Office of the President, Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs, and parliamentary bodies. In these capacities, he led critical policy research, analysis, and development initiatives focused on effective governance and public policy.
 
In parallel, Amin has also worked with regional and international NGOs, including UN, EU, USAID, the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). He is the founder of the national youth body, the Afghan Youth Empowerment Council (AYEC), an avenue for civic activism aimed at enhancing the interaction between civil society and the state to promote governance, human rights, constitutionalism, and democracy.
 
Amin writes extensively for broader public audiences, with his work published in renowned media outlets, including Foreign Policy, The Hindu, The National Interest, Foreign Affairs, First Post, The Diplomat, BBC, TRT World, War on the Rocks, Small Wars Journal, Eurasia Review, and The Week, among others
 
Aziz Amin is currently serving as a Fellow at the Oxford Global Society Think Tank and Research Associate at Brenthurst Foundation.
