Alex joined Gallagher Re, a top-3 global reinsurance broker, in 2022 following 12 years at the Bank of England (BoE) where he led a wealth of initiatives on catastrophe risk, cyber insurance underwriting risk, the stress tests framework for insurers and more. During his time at the BoE he was responsible for the supervision for numerous insurance companies including Lloyd’s of London. Prior to his Bank of England career Alex worked for Willis Re as a broker, catastrophe risk analyst and research coordinator.
From his London-based position at Gallagher Re, Alex is the Head of Greece and Turkey while also leading Products & Practices for EMEA, ensuring that clients have access to best-in-class products and services that the entirety of the Gallagher Group can offer. Alex has an engineering and catastrophe risk background. He holds an engineering degree from the Technical University of Crete, a M.Sc. from the University of Iowa, a Ph.D. from Princeton University and an Executive MBA from the University of Exeter.
