Danilo Bonato is a manager, an author and an expert in circular economy, critical raw materials and recycling.
With more than 30 years of experience in industrial and service companies, in 2005 he led the startup of Remedia, one of the major Italian non-profit electronics producers’ collective organization and he strongly contributed to the development of the Italian e-waste management system.
In 2020 Bonato inspired the merge of the two major national producer responsibility organizations, founding Erion, an integrated group focused on the management of waste relate to electronics, domestic appliances, batteries, packaging, textiles and tobacco products. He is currently Erion Managing Director, member of the Board of the Foundation for Sustainable Development and of the international service company WEEE Europe.
Danilo Bonato is a trusted expert in the circular economy field, a member of the Italian government strategic program for critical raw materials and a former member of the European High level Steering Group for Raw Materials, of ERECON (European Rare Earths Competence Network) and of the Horizon 2020 Advisory Group for Strategic Challenge 5 on Climate Change and Resource Efficiency. He is also the author of several articles and books on green economy and sustainable development.

    The EU Council is expected to approve in the next weeks the EC Commission Proposal for the Critical Raw Material Act. Furthermore, this topic is extremely relevant across industries. For instance, aerospace and defense, ICT or photovoltaic/wind industries are among the largest users of these CRMs but also the recycling industry is expected to have a significant role in reaching the EU targets.
