Thibaut Lejeune

PhD researcher

KU Leuven, Belgium

Thibaut Lejeune has a master’s degree in Classics and is currently a PhD researcher in ancient philosophy at KU Leuven (Belgium). In his doctoral dissertation, Thibaut discusses the famous precept of “homoiosis theoi” (becoming like god), written by Plato in his dialogue Theaetetus. Thibaut aims at providing a systematic study of the reception history of this ideal of “homoiosis theoi” in pagan Greek philosophy.
Thibaut is the writer and director of “Frogs - World’s First Film in Ancient Greek” (https://frogsthefilm.com/en). “Frogs” is a production by Iuvenalis Pictures, a non-professional production company. The amateur film was created by hobbyists, on a voluntary basis and with a limited budget. The cast and crew of Iuvenalis Pictures consist of alumni from KU Leuven (Belgium) who specialised in classical languages and hold a deep passion for (the ancient) culture and the art of filmmaking. The official partner of “Frogs” is Elliniki Agogi.
With “Frogs” Iuvenalis Pictures primarily aims to provide educational material for the teaching of Ancient Greek in secondary education. Additionally, Iuvenalis Pictures hopes to demonstrate the enduring power and value of ancient stories for our contemporary society and to stimulate public interest in the Ancient Greek language, literature, and culture.
