Spiros Lampridis

Born in Thessaloniki Greece, in 1957.
1976-1980: Studied Economic and Political Science in Athens University (Undergraduate) and subsequently European Integration, as well as International Relations, in Reading (1983-4) and Boston Universities respectively (1993-4).
Served in the Greek Land Forces as Reserve Lieutenant of Ordnance in an Armored Tank Brigade (1980-1983).
Joined the Diplomatic Corps in 1983.
Served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens in the European Cooperation Dpt. (1984-1989)
Posted subsequently in Tel Aviv as First Secretary of Embassy (1989-1991) and Brussels (EEC Greek Mission, 1991-1994)
Presided over the Enlargement negotiations with Austria, Finland, Sweden and Norway (1994).
Served as Director of the Cabinet of the Alternate Minister for European Affairs, during four consecutive Ministers (1994-1996)
Seconded to the Athens Olympic Games Bidding Committee (1997).
Posted as Consul General in Geneva (1997-2000) and then as First Counsellor in the Liaison Office of Greece in Skopje, (then fYROM, 2000-2002).
Seconded as Diplomatic Director to the President of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games (2002-2004)
Headed the Global Tour of Athens 2004 Olympic Torch relay (2004).
Posted as Counsellor and then Deputy Head of Mission to the Greek Permanent Mission to NATO, Brussels (2004-2011)
Head of NATO Dpt., in MFA Athens (2011-2012)
Director of Foreign Minister’s Cabinet (2012-2013)
Nominated Ambassador of Greece to Israel (2013-2016)
Nominated Permanent Representative of Greece to NATO (2016-2023, when retired).
Has been awarded nine official State decorations by Austria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Poland, Sweden and The Holy Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
Speaks fluently Greek, English, French, Italian and Spanish and retains some knowledge of Hebrew, Russian and Slav Macedonian.
Author of six historical novels in Greek.
